Dear Students,
A very warm welcome to you all as you begin your journey as members of the Royal Crest International School community.
For some of you, today may bring excitement. For others, perhaps a little nervousness or uncertainty. Both are perfectly natural. My advice is simple: look at this as an adventure—an opportunity to learn, discover who you are, develop your talents and create experiences that will stay with you for years to come.
We look forward to the individuality, talents, ideas and energy that each of you will bring to Royal Crest. Every student has something unique to contribute, and one of our responsibilities as a school is to help you discover what that is and give you the opportunity to develop it.
At Royal Crest, we believe that education is not simply about getting good grades. It is about becoming a person of character, integrity, confidence and purpose.
A good education should prepare you not only for examinations and university, but for life. The knowledge you gain here is important, but so are the qualities you develop along the way—honesty, responsibility, respect, resilience, compassion and the courage to do what is right.
You, Your Parents and Your Teachers
As a Royal Crest student, you are now part of an important partnership between you, your parents and your teachers.
Each of us has a role to play
Your teachers are here to guide you, challenge you and support you. Your parents are here to encourage you and help you make the most of your opportunities. And you have a responsibility to take ownership of your learning, your behaviour and your personal development.
Like every successful relationship, this partnership requires trust, communication, effort and respect.
Royal Crest will become an important part of your life. The friendships you make, the challenges you overcome, the successes you experience and even the mistakes you make will all become part of your story.
Remember that your actions have consequences. The way you speak, the way you treat others and the decisions you make do not affect only you—they can also affect your classmates, your teachers and the wider school community.
Excellence Through Hard Work
Royal Crest, we believe that excellence is achieved through commitment and hard work.
There are no shortcuts to genuine achievement. Whether you are working towards a Cambridge examination, preparing for a sporting competition, performing on stage, developing a technology project or taking on a leadership role, your success will depend on the effort you are prepared to put in.
We also expect you to be good stewards of the opportunities and resources available to you.
Take care of your classroom, your uniform, your sports equipment, our facilities and the environment around you. Treat school property with respect so that those who come after you can enjoy the same opportunities.
Discover Your Talents
Royal Crest provides a broad education that extends well beyond the classroom.
Our Cambridge curriculum will challenge you academically, but we also want you to discover your talents through sport, culture, the arts, leadership, technology, innovation, clubs and community activities.
You may discover that you are an outstanding mathematician, a talented athlete, a gifted musician, a future entrepreneur, an innovative programmer, a natural leader or something you have not yet imagined.
Give yourself permission to explore
If you are a talented athlete, practise. If you enjoy technology, build something. If you love public speaking, step onto the stage. If you have an idea, share it.
Talent is only the beginning. Development comes through opportunity, practice and perseverance.
Seven Habits for Success
There are a few simple habits that will help you succeed at Royal Crest:
Be punctual — Arrive at lessons and activities on time.
Be prepared — Bring what you need and complete your work.
Do your corrections — Learn from your mistakes rather than repeating them.
Read and revise — Prepare consistently for tests and examinations.
Listen and participate — Engage with your teachers and classmates.
Take responsibility — Own your choices, your work and your behaviour.
Be honest — Do not cheat, lie or take credit for someone else's work.
These may sound simple, but developing these habits will make a significant difference to your success.
We Are a Community
Above all, remember that Royal Crest is a community. We are made up of students, teachers, staff and families from different backgrounds, cultures and experiences. We may not always agree, and we will certainly make mistakes, but we must always treat one another with dignity and respect.
Learn to support your classmates. Celebrate their achievements. Help someone who is struggling. Be willing to apologise when you are wrong and be willing to forgive when someone else makes a mistake.
We are all works in progress.
Discipline, Respect and Responsibility
Your parents have chosen Royal Crest because they believe in the values and opportunities we offer. That comes with an expectation that you will respect the standards of the school.
Discipline is not about limiting you; it is about helping you develop self-control and responsibility. Respect your teachers. Respect your classmates. Respect school rules. Respect yourself. If you are ever uncertain about what is expected of you, ask. There is no weakness in asking for guidance.
Use Social Media Responsibly
As young people growing up in a digital world, you also have responsibilities beyond the school gates.
Use social media wisely and responsibly. Think before you post, share or comment. Remember that something posted online can have consequences long after you have forgotten about it.
If you have a disagreement or concern, speak to the appropriate person. Where possible, have a respectful face-to-face conversation rather than allowing misunderstandings to grow online.
At Royal Crest, we encourage open communication. If something concerns you, speak up, ask questions and seek the facts.
Your Royal Crest Journey
Finally, I encourage you to embrace this new chapter. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Work hard. Try new things. Make friends. Ask questions. Make mistakes and learn from them. Challenge yourself. Support others.
Your time at Royal Crest will pass more quickly than you think. One day, you will look back on these years and realise that your education was about much more than the subjects you studied.
It was about the person you became. Our goal is to see you leave Royal Crest as a knowledgeable, confident, principled and capable young person, ready to take your place in the world and make a meaningful difference.
Welcome to Royal Crest International School. Your journey begins today.
